I’m exhausted. It could be from a lot of things, actually. I didn’t sleep so much last night because or a bad thunderstorm and nervousness about not eating at all for atleast 10 days.
I just found a post on the main website about detox symptoms, which indicates that during the first two days, the blood sugar level drops below 70 mg/dl. This is probably what’s making me so tired. I had another lemon drink just now, making that #5. I spoke to M- and he said that I can drink between 6-12 lemon drinks per day. I somehow got stuck on the number six. That is good to know, although my stomach is being so loud and hurting so much. The good thing is after these first few days it will be mostly downhill!
I’m also becoming so irritated with everyone right now; I think because it feels as if they do not understand what I am doing or why I am doing it. I think tomorrow will be better. Also, I’m going back to my apartment where I won’t have to deal with the smell of cooking all day long.

And again.
Wednesday, 8 August 2007 (12:55pm)
The salt finally worked- about 3 hrs later. I guess some people’s bodies take longer than others. Hm.. I feel lighter now. I have already had 3 glasses of lemon drink and I am doing about 1/2 tsp of the cayenne pepper. I like it hot and it also feels like the hotter it is, the less hungry I am after. (I have read this is a potential side effect of spicy foods, actually. They are known to speed metabolism, as well.)

Received a txt from M- around 8:30am, “Salt was pretty bad.”
“Great.” I thought,” Now I really have something to look fwd to!”
I heated up some water slightly, b/c it said luke-warm and the water I had was cold. I accidentally made it too hot so I let it cool a bit, with the salt in it. I hope it didn’t change anything about it. I saw the salt forming on the top of the water in a crystal pattern. It reminded me of science class when we learned about the process of crystallization.
It wasn’t cooling fast enough for me so I put it into the fridge for a bit. It was still a bit warm and I drank it with a straw and almost threw up. (This continued until I finally finished it @9:40am.) So disgusting. M- said only 9 more times. I was planning to do this lemon thing until my tongue turns pink. We’ll see how long I can last past 10 days with this awful salt I have to drink.
M- has decided to begin again tomorrow, as he cannot stomach the maple syrup. I was a little disappointed at first but it’ll be interesting to both be on different days in the process. I looked up some information on using agave syrup instea. Some people say it works, although it appear to have less nutritional value and leaves some people hungry. In the book by Peter Glickman, I found this:
“8 fl. oz. of spring or purified water or substitute 10 fl. oz. of fresh sugar cane juice for the water and maple syrup. Do not use fluorinated water.”
Wondering if I need more tea or salt (please God, no) because all of this bathroom talk I have read about is making me feel as if I am missing out on something. Hm.. M- said it takes an hour to kick in. It has been over an hour. Not sure what to do. It might just take time.
The Master Cleanse
Reasons for doing the Lemonade Diet, or The Master Cleanse:
1. I have had stomach problems in the past (ulcerous condition & gastric reflux) and continue to have stomach pains with certain food/ drink.
2. Seems like a nice way to transition into the raw food diet, which is something I have wanted to try for a long time.
3. I became incredibly curious- and skeptical- about this once I started hearing about it from M- and, of course, the only way I’ll really know what its like it to try it for myself!
